MedicaMetrix has developed a system for the quantitative measurement of prostate volume that will become the new “gold standard” for prostate exams. The ProstaGlove™ system will provide an objective, quantitative, trans-rectal method to measure prostate volume. It is a medical device that will permit in office, quantitative measurement of prostate volume and determination of growth rate (Velocity) and changes in rate (acceleration), together with a method of displaying various relationships of PSA values versus time (PSA Density).

Presently, examination of the prostate and recording information regarding its physical characteristics for future comparison is a very subjective process. Patient care will be greatly improved by a method of prostate examination which will provide quantitative, time-series data to track changes.

• The ProstaGlove™ will permit the acquisition of quantitative (i.e., has it changed, and by how much?) measurements of prostate size over time. This will allow more effective diagnosis and treatment of acute urinary retention, outlet obstruction, cancer, and related problems of the prostate, as well as display, storage, and retrieval of patient data relative to prostate anatomic characteristics and PSA levels. A database will allow the creation of individual patient time-series data which will provide significant improvement in the objective identification of changes that occur over time in a patient's physical findings.
