MedicaMetrix, Inc. was founded in 2004 and has developed a system for the quantitative measurement of prostate size that will become the new “gold standard” for prostate exams. Following a classic “razor blade” marketing strategy, the Company plans to deliver the system at no cost to the physician and sell the disposable procedure glove.

ProstaGlove™ will become the new standard for measuring prostate volume and growth. By enabling this measurement in the Urologist’s office at a cost that is a fraction of the current ‘gold standard’, the trans-rectal ultrasound, ProstaGlove™ will re-define prostate examination.

Issue and Opportunity

Roughly 60 million prostate exams are conducted every year in the US and EU for men over 45-50 years of age.  Today, physical examination of a the prostate relies heavily upon subjective impressions that do not provide an accurate basis for periodic comparison and monitoring, or clinical decisions.

The ProstaGlove™ will permit the acquisition of a quantitative measurement of prostate volume. This will allow more effective diagnosis and treatment of acute urinary retention, bladder outlet obstruction and related problems of the urinary tract, prostate.
